There have been some pretty famous cases of first cousins marrying -- Charles Darwin and his wife, Emma, for example -- and no one blinked an eye. We always associate cousin marriage with cognitively challenged hillbillies or inbred royalty, but in some cultures it's pretty common.<br /><br />I also wonder just how anyone would ever know if cousins married because you don't get asked about consanguinity when you apply for a marriage license.
