It's been a while since I have played along with Jenn's Time Warp Tuesday. Check in to see who else is sharing family photos and the stories behind them.
This was taken 29 years ago on our wedding day. We had a late afternoon outdoor ceremony and a cocktail party style reception on the patio of a restaurant.
When we finally remembered to cut the cake it was getting dark! It was a small, inexpensive wedding with no wedding planner to keep things on schedule. My mom made my dress, a neighbor made the cake, my sister's friend was the photographer. I asked for no chrysanthemums in my bouquet - as you can see my request was not honored!! No Pinterest fantasies in sight - but it took!

I've always felt that lavish, garish weddings are ridiculous and certainly no guarantee of a good marriage. (No offense to anyone who truly wants one, though) Your mom made you a perfect dress--you look so beautiful and happy. Happy anniversary to you both, Susan!
Lovely photo.
I intensely dislike lavish weddings and the seemingly-perfect (and totally cookie cutter) Pinterest weddings we're seeing these days seem too obsessed with the little details surrounding one day, rather than focusing on the marriage to come.
Congratulations! I had a simple wedding too, and it's lasted 30 years so far.
Simple is good! You looked so happy on your wedding day.
I think you might be the only one who managed a TWT this week. I've been swamped at work and at home.
Even though my daughter's wedding had lots of bells and whistles, in the end it is the simplest things--the vows--that make a marriage.
Look at brunette you!! I was thrilled with my wedding bouquet flowers ... too bad they were wrapped with a very tacky ribbon.
